What does an after-school experience look, sound like, or feel like? Welcome to Joy Fest!
JOY FEST decodes CDE’s expanded learning expectations by providing OUSD youth service practitioners with 3 hours of immersive professional development, engaging in a diverse array of indoor & outdoor activities mirroring robust after-school programs. Attendees select from activities guided by instructors/coaches to those that are self-led, fostering independence & confidence with opportunities to practice SEL skills. The Joy Fest adventure amplifies the importance of empowerment, where participants demonstrate voice and choice in crafting their ASP journey - IRL.
Joy Fest is a reset and a rally. The intention is to honor the passion and purpose of expanded learning champions who impact over 16K OUSD youth - daily, to calibrate as a community, ignite motivation, and launch the year embodying inspiration, momentum, and excitement.
Event Highlights:
ExLO Awards Ceremony: An event honoring the dedication, reliability, and excellence of our youth development community.
Network Mixer: Opportunity for expanded learning leaders to access and connect with community vendors who provide support, goods, and services tailored for after-school providers.
All Star Competitions: Flag football matches to 3-on-3 basketball, kickball relay races, and an exciting Color Run.
Joy Lounge: A chill zone filled with music, art-making, a photobooth, & indoor games.
Game Zones: Classic indoor and outdoor after-school games: 4-Square, Uno, Connect 4, cornhole and more.
Express Yourself Wall: A space where to share inspiring notes, stories, and intentions for the school year ahead, and to reflect on your Joy Fest experience.
